Bangkok, Thailand — September 27, 2024: C.P. Packaging Industry Co., Ltd., a leading subsidiary of CPPC Group, reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability by actively participating in the “Rak Chao Phraya: River Cleanup” initiative in celebration of World Rivers Day 2024. Executives and staff from C.P. Packaging teamed up with Iconsiam and a wide network of public, private, and social organizations to help restore the Chao Phraya River, one of Thailand’s most critical natural resources.
This initiative reflects C.P. Packaging’s broader alignment with CPPC Group’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection. The cleanup event spanned key locations along the river, including Iconsiam Pier, Si Phraya Pier, Sathorn Pier, and the piers of prominent hotels like Shangri-La and Peninsula, aimed at reducing plastic waste and raising awareness of sustainable waste management practices.
Highlighting the significance of the company’s involvement, Mr. Tanan Sodsangsuk, Executive at C.P. Packaging, expressed his pride in leading the team’s participation in such a vital initiative. He emphasized that the event aligned with CPPC Group’s core value of “Three Benefits”—benefits for the country, the people, and the business.
“This river cleanup is not just about making the environment better today; it’s about ensuring that our efforts lead to long-term sustainability. By participating, we demonstrate our commitment to the ‘Three Benefits’ principle, which prioritizes positive impacts on society, our country, and our business as a whole,” said Mr. Tanan.
The event was conducted in collaboration with Iconsiam, which has led the “Rak Chao Phraya” project for three consecutive years, demonstrating their steadfast dedication to the “Co-creation” strategy and “Creating Shared Values”. This year’s event united all sectors along the riverbanks—from government agencies to private enterprises and local communities. Anont Attawiboon, Acting Operations Executive at Iconsiam, reflected on the power of collaboration between different sectors in protecting Thailand’s most important waterway.
“The ‘Rak Chao Phraya: River Cleanup’ for World Rivers Day represents a powerful collaboration between the public, private, and social sectors, all of whom share a deep commitment to preserving the Chao Phraya River and its ecosystems for future generations,” Anont remarked.
Further adding to the sentiment, James Scott, Executive Director of TerraCycle Thailand, emphasized the global relevance of the event. He noted that efforts like these are essential in aligning with global goals to reduce plastic pollution in waterways.
“This initiative supports TerraCycle’s mission to eliminate waste and prevent plastic from entering our seas. The collaboration with Iconsiam and other partners reinforces our shared commitment to environmental sustainability,” Scott added.
